My little Skiers

I learned to ski as a teen-ager and although I ski relatively well, I am not the most adventrious skier.  Victor and I wanted the girls to take skiing lessons as early on as possible so that they had no fear of skiing so I was thrilled when the Moms’ club I belong to sent out an email about skiing lessons at a nearby ski reserve.  I’ve lived in Ridgewood for over 3 years and till I got that email I had no idea that there was a ski area 20 minutes away from where we live!   So if you are in the area (and even if you live in the city) you should check out CampGaw – it is so close and a perfect place for little ones to take their first lessons!

The girls’ favorite things about skiing are 1)drinking hot chocolate afterwards (which I often use as a bribe to get them to ski a bit more); 2) going up on the ‘magic carpet’ and 3)hanging out with their friends in the class…. Between all these things they did manage to learn how to come down a hill doing a ‘pizza’ and ‘french fries’ – yes, instructors here use very high tech terms:).

So even though their skiing lessons took a good part of my Fridays I am so glad that we did them as they did learn to ski a bit.  Besides they looked so adorable in their skiing outfits – that alone was worth the effort!
