Sunday afternoon

I love lifestyle photography and since 99% of images on my website and blog are lifestyle and natural,  my clients tend to be drawn to this type of imagery as well.  Most of them do like one or two semi-traditional images but not this family – they wanted to go 100% lifestyle, which was fine by me, as you can imagine!    I knew that would have a blast at this session when, during our pre-session consultation, this Mom told me that they wanted me to capture them just being themselves at home, playing, reading books, baking cookies – that set the tone for the whole session.   I knew that it would be very laid back and relaxed and it truly was.

This little guy was absolutely ADORABLE and true to his age (he was just about 18 months at the time) he was always on the go.  His parents were a bit worried about him not ‘cooperating’ and even sent me an email afterwards ‘apologizing’ for his behavior’.   I re-assured them that little W. was perfect and I was not expecting anything other than a rambunctious toddler doing exactly what he did.    The images from this session where exactly what this family had in mind -very authentic – a quiet Sunday afternoon at home, playing, reading, laughing – these are the types of images that I love to get of my own family.    The Mom told me that she loves Black and White images and since I do too (and they work so well for this type of family sessions) I did majority of them in B&W.  It was truly a lifestyle session and this family (and I!) were thrilled with the outcome.

I love so many things about being a family photographer right here in Bergen County and one of them is meeting and getting to know new families.   I love that in a span of a few weeks –  from the time we first meet till the time I deliver their order – we are well on our way to becoming good aquantances and in some cases – good friends.  I truly have the best clients!  And this family was no exception – I loved getting to know them and cannot wait to continue building our relationship and capture treasured moments like these for them in the future:
