Waiting | photographing a glowing mamma-to-be in a park in Wyckoff

I love photographing maternity sessions: capturing the excitement in couple’s faces, seeing the love their have for each other, admiring big, beautiful round bellies….But this maternity session was extra special for me:  I’ve been looking forward to it every since I found out that these two were expecting.

Tim is one of my best friends who I’ve know for ages.  When he met Elayne, he would tell me about her and from the way he talked it was clear that she was really special and perfect for him.  I fell in love with Elayne as soon as I met her.   She is one of the sweetest, smartest and all around nicest people I know; and I think that she makes Tim a better man. They are one of the sweetest couples I know.

I was thrilled when Tim popped the question a few years ago.  I did their engagement session and told them that I could not wait to capture all wonderful milestones they would be reaching together  – being married, getting pregnant, having kids.   So when last fall Tim told me that they were expecting I started to scream with joy so loudly that Victor got a bit concerned:)  I was beyond happy for them.  They are both wonderful with kids: a perfect combination of kind, silly, playful, patient.  My own girls LOVE them and know that they will be great parents.

So as you can imagine photographing this maternity session was really special for me: I was ‘there ‘when Tim just met Elayne, when they got engaged and married, and now they are getting ready to welcome a baby into their lives!   I feel so fortunate to be able to capture this huge and happy milestone for them.  Elayne was absolutely radiant and stunning!  She looked so ‘Mother-Earth’ like to me – with her beautiful belly, flowing skirt, and a happy smile…

I truly believe that every woman should have maternity portraits done and I was so happy to be able to do that for Elayne.   And now I cannot wait to meet their little one when he or she makes her appears in a few weeks.   This baby is very lucky to have such wonderful parents who will love it more that the words can say!
