Saturday Morning

Do you want to have a family photo session and get updated family pictures but are not sure about when to do it?  What is the best time for a family photo session?  The answer depends on what you want to get out of your session.  Fall is very popular because people want to use pictures for the holidays.   Spring (just around the corner) is one of my favorite times to shoot because everyone is thrilled to be outdoors after a long winter.  And of course who does not like summer?  But winter, although not as colorful and pleasant as other seasons, can also be a great time for a family session, especially if you are looking for lifestyle, candid images captured at your home.

Case in point -Here is a session spotlight of a family session I had in Ridgewood a few weeks ago.  From the very first phone conversation I had with this Mom I got a feeling that they were really easy going and down to earth and when I met them I knew I was right.  Their house was warm and inviting, the Mom and Dad so nice and the kids – very sweet.  First I spent some time with N. who showed me lego models that he put together.  My experience with Legos is limited to a set that Mia and Alexa have and with the exception of the Lego Store, I have not seen anything this advanced up close and personal!  I’ve also learnt about building car models and saw his trophies for those – the world of boys is definitely very different from the world of girls that I am mostly exposed to:)

And then I got to spend time with M. who is such a sweetheart!  She played with her dolls, or as she calls them – her ‘girls’, her pet egg and a few rounds of hide-and-seek with me.

And then it was time for a family dance-off/jumping session in their parents bedroom.  Dancing and jumping on a bed on a Saturday morning – can you think of a better way to start your weekend? 🙂

This was a wonderful family session and I left feeling happy that I got to meet such a wonderful family and capture these priceless memories for them!
