The land of Windmills, canals, bikes and lots of tulips

We did not have much time for a family vacation this spring break (I blame my kids and their activities and competitions, which get in the way of our trips!) so we decided on a quick trip to the Netherlands. Victor and I have been there a few times but our kids have not, it’s a short-ish direct flight from Newark and who does not love tulips, right?

We saw, did and ate #allthethings! :).

We biked (well, some of us did and some of us – ME – were carted around in a little cart because I don’t know how to ride a bike!) and saw windmills in Leiden – highly recommend to check out this quaint town in the dutch countryside

saw hundreds of thousands (LITERALLY) tulips – a visit to Keukenhof is a must if you are visiting the Netherlands in April/May

checked out cool museums (Straat museum is a bit off the beaten path but definitely worth exploring – their street art exhibit is amazing!). And Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum , although not pictured here, were very worth visiting:

ate lots of great food – from a food tour to an old school restaurant with no menus to a fancy Michelin starred affair at Bougainville; an apple pie from Winkel, a rijsttafel from Sampurma (a must have! ), freshly made to order giant stroopwafels at the Pijp market – I get hungry just thinking about all of this!

walked all over the place admiring just how charming this city is:

and even did a little photoshoot with Mia- in case anyone is wonderful why Lex was not present at the photoshoot it is because she chose to sleep in instead of getting up early to have her photos taken – and I respect her decision:)

We had the best time on this trip and even though it was pretty short, we were able to relax (despite easily walkint over 20K steps a day), recharge and have fun as a family! And if you are planning your own trip to the Netherlands and have questions – reach out!
