Awww – how I loved this photo session with a super sweet brother/sister duo from Ridgewood. I’ve worked with this family twice before – once for baby A. first year photo shoot and second time at my photo studio in Ridgewood when they came in for their studio holiday photo session. I look forward to their session every time – not only because I love to see how much the kids have grown and change but because I just love working with this family – they are wonderful, down-to-earth, laid-pack and really nice people! And you may be surprised to find out, but I like nice people:)
We had to reschedule this session twice – once due to weather and another time due to unexpected business trip. Third time was definitely the charm for this photo session although it did not look like that from the beginning. Their nanny called in sick, Dad had to work and Mom had to work till about 15 min prior to the session so she did not have much time to get ready. But needless to say, it all worked out so well in the end and we got beautiful images! The Mom (who cried upon seeing the photos) told me to tell my future clients – and I quote here ‘you don’t need to have makeup on or have your hair done, you will still look beautiful and LOVE the images!” And she definitely looked beautiful and oh-so-happy! So all Moms out there who are looking for the perfect time to take pictures, who are waiting to loose those stubborn 5 or 10 lbs, keep this in mind – when you are happy, it shows on the outside and you look beautiful!
Now back to these sweet kids. Baby R. turned one right before we had this session so I focused a bit more on him in the beginning. We started the session at their house in Ridgewood – I really wanted to capture a few images similar to what I did for his sister just a year ago and we did that! And then we headed to a park in Wyckoff for a chance of scenery and to capture images of the kids in a field of wild daisies. I can have family and children photo sessions in that park every day of the week and never get tired of it – wild flowers look SO stunning in real life and in pictures! And the kids loved sitting among daisies – they were completely fascinated by them!
It is funny what different personalities these brother and sister have. Big sister A. is very serious and wants to do things her own way – I loved capturing her many different expressions. And this fine art portrait I took of her at this session is one of my favorite children images to date! I just love how it captures her and childhood so perfectly – a wispy blond ponytail, chubby arms and all:)
And baby brother R. is one of the happiest babies I’ve seen – he was happy at home, he was happy swinging in a swing at the porch, he was happy sitting in a field of daisies, he was happy playing with him Mom – I have a hard time picturing him not happy!
So check out these images – you can see why I loved this Ridgewood family photo session so much, right?:)
