A couple of weeks ago we celebrated my 41th (!!!) birthday with a long weekend get-away to Montreal. My newly retired parents volunteered to come to our house to watch all three girls so it was just Victor and I. I love traveling with the girls but I also really love traveling without them as well:) We’ve never been to Montreal but have been to Quebec City and loved it so were very excited about this trip. We spent 4 days/3 nights and I felt that was a perfect amount of time to get a taste of this city.
We did lots of walking around in the rain – romantic!
saw a cool music and light show at Notre Dame:
checked out lots of cool churches with stunning stained glass:
got some culture in at the Museum of Fine Arts – their Chagall exhibit was pretty awesome and a stuffed animals display (see below) – rather interesting:
we walked up to Mont Royal and enjoyed city views, sun and music among hundreds of Montrealeans:
we sampled bounty of fresh fruit, vegetables, meats, cheese and baked goods at Marche Jean Talon market (that was my favorite meal of the trip!!!)
we walked all over the city including an industrial area our concierge was not sure was even walkable:
and found our way to Habitat 67:
we had many many many great meals (Europea is a MUST if you are in Montreal):
and took lots of selfies:
and before we knew it it was time to say ‘good bye’ to Canada and ‘hello’ to the good old US of A:
This is the first trip (other than the Carebean/Mexico) where I did not bring my big camera -instead I had my brand new Fujifilm xt-2 with me! Most of the pictures in this post – with the exception of selfies and food images – were taken with it. I gotta say that I LOVE it – I think this will be the only camera I will be taking with me when I travel!
