Bundle of Joy

I was very excited about this newborn session for a variety of reasons: first, because I LOVE photographing newborns and second – because this newborn session was in Tribeca in Manhattan, which is right next door to the area where we used to live before we moved out to the suburbs.  It was so nice being back in my old neighborhood and walking familiar streets where we walked so many times… I even stopped by at my old favorite restaurant ‘Kitchenette’ for a little snack after the session:)

The stars have aligned and the session turned out perfectly – adorable baby, loving parents, beautiful apartment, amazing light.   The little girl was so precious!  She was a bit older than a typical newborn I photograph – although for someone who is barely three weeks young, the term ‘older’ seems hardly appropriate:) But she ‘behaved’ perfectly – first she was awake so we were able to get a few open eyed images and lifestyle images but after a snack she fell asleep and I was able to get typical newborn poses.

My favorite part of the session was watching this family just being themselves and loving their little girl.  You could feel the love everywhere: from the way her parents’ faces melted every time they looked at her, to the many special blankets (the pink one in the image below was knitted by her Grandma!) and toys she has, to the unique touches in her nursery ( her Mom bought a tapestry for her room in Thailand even before this little one was born!) – love was all around. It was such a privilege to witness and capture it!
