I LOVE babies! And since I am set with my two, I get my fill of their sweetness at my clients’ baby sessions:) Babies change so much in their first year – from squishy newborns (that newborn look only lasts a few weeks), to first smiles and chubby legs, to the laughing out-loud, sitting up and crawling army style stage to getting ready to walk and first steps ‘Frankenstein’ style:) New parents often ask me what’s the best time for photo sessions for their new bundles of joy and whether or not I have a baby’s first year package. I was offering a baby’s first year’ photo package but ultimately decided against it – I realize that combining my Signature and Simplicity photo sessions throughout baby’s first year gives my clients most flexibility.
If you are planning out photo sessions for your baby’s first year – here is what I recommend. The newborn phase (first 2 weeks) is definitely a huge milestone and I definitely recommend a Signature Session to capture that stage. After that, Simplicity sessions at 6 months and 9 months will be perfect. And then – another huge milestone – your baby’s first birthday, which definitely deserves a Signature Session!
I did a sneak peek from this family photography session at a client’s home in Mahwah a few weeks ago but here is a session spotlight so that you can see a few more of their beautiful baby and family images. This was not technically a newborn session because baby O. was already two months old and while this is not one of the more traditional baby age milestones, it was a great session! Her Mom was really excited about capturing that age with adorable Ms O. – her toothless smiles, chubby cheeks, long eye lashes. She was so beautiful – I just wanted to hold and cuddle her:) And her Mom looked amazing – it is hard to believe that she gave birth to her girl only a couple of months prior to the session! And she (as was her husband) is absolutely head over heals in love with her little girl! I was talking to this new Dad after the session was done and he told me that while (as many men) he wanted to have a son (I guess there is something to be said about teaching your boy how to throw a ball, and passing down your family name) now that he has a daughter he wants to have more girls! I can definitely understand that – little girls melt their daddies’ hearts like no one else!
