Ever since since we got married, Victor and I take a ‘stay-cation’ the week between Christmas and New Year. We don’t travel anywhere; instead we use this week to recharge, relax and slow down. I’ve always loved this time of year but since the girls were born I appreciate it even more – because while Victor and I don’t work that week, our nanny does so we have help with the girls!:)
This year’s break was one of my favorites – it was a perfect combination of spending time with family, spending time with the girls and spending time together as a couple.
Our Third Annual Christmas Eve Dinner was a family affair with the centerpieces created by the girls:
the main ‘star’ of the evening was a turducken from a local poultry farm:
and the rest was catered (although headed by yours truly), as I am not known for my cooking skills:
We baked cookies for Santa:
and watched the fire in Christmas PJs:
Played with new toys on Christmas morning:
and had yummy breakfasts of Belgium waffles:
played games by while listening to the fire cracking and Christmas songs:
and created masterpieces – all dressed up as princesses, of course:)
danced in the driveway:
and invented avant-garde dance moves:
read books in bed with Grandma:
and had sweet dreams:
This week was a perfect ending to a great year!

What beautiful pictures! I’m jealous… I totally dropped the ball this year and took hardly any pictures on Christmas Eve/Christmas day. I’m definitely going to make more of an effort this year!
Gorgeous pics!!! Love how you documented everything with pictures, wish I had thought to the same since I also had a long stay-cation with the kids during winter break!
And what the hell is a turducken? It looks delicious.
These are fabulous, Lena!! I’m a terrible mother…took not one single photo during Christmas. I just soaked up the moments instead of wielding the camera this year. I love what you did here. Precious 🙂
It is a true blessing to see the love in our daughter’s eyes for her new born son that you captured in the photograph!
