Out of office

It is no secret that I LOVE to travel – have been to over 40 countries on 6 continents and there are still so many more left that I cannot wait to see.  Both Victor and I love  ‘active’ vacations – where you get to experience a new place/country through sights, nature, meeting people and finding out about local customs, and of course through food – that’s the part I like the best:)  We travelled a lot before the girls were born – even went on around the world 3.5 month trip.  Our families thought that we got travel out of our systems but they were wrong – I think once you have the travel bug, it is here to stay.  We were fortunate enough to be able to leave the girls on several occasions in care of our very capable nanny (with grandparents nearby) and visit a few new places including Norway, Sweden and Denmark just a few months ago – although now it feels like it was a lifetime away.

But no matter how much I enjoy a good adventure, sometimes nothing is better than a beach vacation – where all you do is swim in the ocean, take long naps in the afternoon, read a book that you would not normally read (e.g. The Shopaholic series) and the only decisions you need to make is what meal or fruity drink you want to have next.

It’s been way too long since our last beach vacation but that is about to change.  The girls are turning 3 in a few days (a separate post on that later) and Victor is turning the big 40 so we decided to leave cold New Jersey behind and going to the warm Caribbean to celebrate.  And the best part is that my parents and in-laws are coming with us as well – which means that we will have plenty of help with the girls and a few date nights – YAY!
