First family ‘adventure’ in Sesame Place and Philly

A few weeks ago we went on our first family overnight ‘adventure’ – Sesame Place and a day trip to Philadelphia.   We’ve been on vacation with them before but this was the first time when we went somewhere local for a night.   I love short getaways like this – they require so little planning but can be lots of fun. Victor and I used to on little getaways all the time before the girls were born… yeah, we used to do a lot of fun things before they were born but that’s another story:)

I was hoping Mia and Alexa would behave and the trip would be fun but with these two you never know:  they could be perfect little angels or spoiled kids that are in a desperate need of SuperNanny.    Happy to report that that were the former and the whole getaway was a big success!

Sesame Place was perfect for them – little kiddie pools, carousels, a super cute parade and of course tons of Sesame Street characters!   The things they were most impressed with though were Elmo shaped plates at the food court – go figure:)

After a full day of fun at Sesame Place our ‘adventure’ continued at a hotel where they splashed in a bath tub:

The next morning as soon as they woke up Mia asked me if we could go ‘sleep’ at an adventure again today:)  We had breakfast at a super cute old fashioned diner, where the girls got free cookies from the owner – I am not sure if it was for good behavior or just for being adorable:

Both Victor and I’ve heard great things about Please Touch museum in Philly, so we went to check it out.  Mia and Alexa loved it so much that they threw a bit of a tantrum when it was time to leave.

And as a perfect ending for the weekend there was absolutely no traffic on the way home and we made it back from Philly in under 2 hours!  So if you are in Bergen County or surrounding areas and have toddlers – definitely consider this itinerary for your own overnight adventure!
