Family time in Mexico!
You guys – a huge milestone for my family- a few weeks ago we took our first post-COVID trip outside the US! It’s been over two years since we went abroad – I almost forgot what our passports looked like:). Our destination was not very far away or exotic (we went down to Mexico) but let me tell you something – it was felt GREAT using our passports again!
I booked this trip back in January 2021 when I was just recovering from COVID 19 and needed something good to look forward to. My sister’s family as well as my parents booked the trip and with COVID situation being a big unknown we were not sure if we were actually going to go till pretty much the last minute – good thing everything I got was fully refundable:). I had a hard time believing it was going to happen till we were on the ground in Mexico, a which point I allowed myself to relax:)
We stayed at the Finest resort in Cancun and during our stay we did not venture outside the resort even once – except to go on a snorkeling trip. We slept in and ate delicious food, swam in the ocean and in the pool, went parasailing and jet-skiing, snorkeled by a ship reck and a coral reef (I even scraped myself on the coral – lesson learnt: do NOT do that as it HURTS!). It felt SO GOOD to be together and to forget about COVID for a bit – we did not forget about it fully because we had to get tested coming back to the US but that was a small price to pay for a week on the beach with my family!
