Bergen County Senior Portraits Session | Walk through Downtown Ridgewood

When I first started a family photographer in Bergen county almost 17 years ago (I still can’t believe it’s been THAT LONG!) a lot of families I photographed had small kids. But as years went by these kids grew up and now a lot of them are entering middle school, high school and going to college! And as result I am doing more senior and graduation sessions, which is so much fun! Don’t get me wrong – I love working with families and young kids but there is something about photographing teens, especially my own kids are 17 now. As a photographer, there’s something magical about capturing the final year high school through a senior photo session.

I’ve know this girl since she was two years old and I gotta say it was pretty surreal doing her senior session – how is she going to college next year?!! We chose Ridgewood for her senior photoshoot and the setting was perfect—a mix of cool architecture and bright colors downtown, lush greenery and flowers at the Stable – there is so much variety there and it went with the vibe S. wanted to capture in her senior photos.

S. was a bit nervous at the beginning of the photoshoot (which is so common!) but at the end of the session she told me how much fun it was! And that really made me so happy because of course I want to capture my seniors and create photos that they (and their parents) will treasure for years, but I also want to make it a very fun and enjoyable experience for them. After all, a senior session is a celebration of these kids transition to adulthood and the exciting new chapter waiting just around the corner.
